A Comparative Study of the use of Modified Suction Tubes for The Interruption of Early Pregnancy.

Abstract
178 early pregnant women were analysed by means of artificial abortion to observe the differences from Gihira¢¥s Suction Tube and a Modified Suction Tubes. The results obtained from this study were as follows:
1. Gihira¢¥s suction tube can use only when the cervix is dilated with Hegar¢¥s dilator No. 12 in all, but modified suction tubes can used dilated with Hagar¢¥s dilator No. 7and 8. Then there is little danger of the cervial trauma. The danger of cervical trauma is dimished by suction tubes.
2. The modified suction tubes are able to suck the same material Gihira¢¥s suction tube can suck i.e. the villi and fetal material.
3. Gihira¢¥s suction tube having sharp tip is so difficult to insert into the cervix that it is necessary to insert Nelaton¢¥s catheter into the tube, but modified tubes could easily perform without such difficulty. In the intrauterine manipulation the former is dangerous specially in the pregnant uterus in comparison with the other.
4. The recurettage cases markedly decreased in the use of modified suction tubes.
5. Gihira¢¥s-suction tubes could be used under the very deep anesthesia, but modified suction tubes under a shallow or sometimes without anesthesia at all.
